A May Mindful Mobility Challenge!

Happy Monday friends!

I am deep in the trenches of building a new life at the moment-- a scary yet thrilling adventure. My first week off from my corporate job was filled with running around from one appointment to the next.  It was exhausting but in a totally different way than I have felt in the past couple of months. Exhausting but exhilarating. I woke up in the morning refreshed and ready to go instead of dragging my feet out of bed and forcing a smile on.

I know I have a long road ahead of me as I build my business and create the life of my dreams but I am ready for it.  I am ready for research, creation, and new starts. I am ready for trials, tribulations, highs and lows. I know it won’t be perfect but it’s going to be exactly what I need.

To start off this road, I am hosting a Mindful Mobility Challenge in the beginning of May!  May is one of my favorite months. It’s my birthday, Chris’s birthday (a day apart!), our anniversary and the start of more garden time in our backyard.

Part of the reason I left my corporate job is because I felt like treating patients had become mindless.  It might be controversial but I truly think that the healthcare is a little lost and really sad right now.  Time is limited with each patient, practitioners are running their patients in and out of the clinic as fast as possible and sometimes that means things fall through the cracks.  For physical therapy, the problem is less misdiagnosis or negligence and more mindlessness and laziness. In my opinion, physical therapy becomes cookie cutter, boring and one size fits all.  Not only does this suck for practitioners but patients don’t get the best care possible. Each person is different and therefore, needs time, care and thought to create a unique, comprehensive program for them. How does this happen? Mindfulness from the healthcare practitioner AND mindfulness techniques for the patient. This is a whole rant that I will go on at another time. The reason I bring it up now is to explain why I left and what I am going to do about it.

I hated how mindless treatment felt and how little time I was able to mindfully treat my patients.  I truly believe that a little mindfulness in rehabilitation can go a loooong way to assisting a patients recovery.  I believe that bringing an aspect of mindfulness to each treatment session can help patients get better results, improve faster, be more empowered and feel good longer. Due to this, I have a couple of ideas frothing to be coming your way ASAP to bring this concept to as many people as possible.
