This time of year calls for lots of traveling and indulging. All which is amazing and has its on place in every person's life. I plan on eating healthy when I can while also indulging in some of my favorite eats (cheese and potatoes to name a few). Workouts are hard on the road-- with little equipment, smaller spaces & limited time. But there are ways to get around it. Over the next few days I'll post a few exercises to add into your workout on the go.
First one up-- elevated lunges on stairs. Any stairs-- indoors, outdoors, upstairs, downstairs, one step, 10 steps. Any steps you can find- use them. Or you can use a chair or a stool or a couch. Really you can use any elevated surface. I like doing my leg day workouts on harder floors (hard wood floors) so I used the stairs in the foyer of my parents house. Worked out perfectly!
Here you go:
My form isn't perfect (also ignore all the background noises) but here are a few tips:
- Keep your chest up, shoulders back and down
- Keep your core engaged-- belly in to your spine, tailbone nice and heavy
- It will be hard to know the exact distance your front foot needs to be from the step-- Try to line up your knee over your ankle so when you lunge your knee isn't going over your toe.
Try it out! I did elevated lunges as a part of a circuit- 3 sets of 10 on each leg.
