Staying Fueled on the Go

My life is constantly on the go. From workouts to class to social life to bed.  From clinical to teaching yoga to taking yoga classes.  As much as I love cooking and try to fit cooking into my day to day life some days it is just not going to happen. Enter the beautiful, wonderful world of smoothies. Smoothies used to be my Go to every single morning especially when I had a 6 am start time for work. Ever since the Whole30 I have tried to create a sit down (or stand up while putting my makeup on) breakfast for myself of all whole foods. I honestly LOVE it (eggs, potatoes, sweet potatoes and avocados) but it is no always a feasible option for my lifestyle.  For example, at 5:30 am the extra 10-15 minutes I usually take to eat breakfast is reserve for sleeping and I think that is reasonable. For those mornings, I have smoothies. Just as delicious and just as filling but in a different way.

Now some mornings I just throw whatever I can find in the fridge/freezer in the blender and call it a day.  These days I have been trying out different recipes and the latest one I have fell in love with is from BreakFast Criminals, Ksenia called the Cacoa Self Love Smoothie.  I added my own little tweaks to make it perfect for me. Check out the recipe below!

Cacao Self-Love Smoothie

serves 2


  • 1 serving Amazing Grass Chocolate Peanut Butter Superfood Protein
  • ¼ cup strawberries
  • 1/2 a frozen banana for consistency
  • 1 TBSP nut butter
  • 1 TBSP chia seeds
  • 1 TBSP unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 TBSP coconut oil
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ground cinnamon, cardamom, turmeric to taste
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  •  1-2 dates to taste


Blend all the ingredients together, Top with cacao nibs & shredded coconut.


A Great smoothie is made by a great protein powder. I hate when protein powders taste fake or powdery. I love when there is flavor and nutrients. Amazing Grass is all that and more.
