The Well Summit: Full Recap


A few days have passed and my mind is still swirling with ideas from the Well Summit and processing everything I heard and felt. It was a whirlwind of a weekend from start to finish. I went in knowing that it is a wellth of information in the best way after attending last year but it still amazes me. On Friday, my train came into Penn Station at 12:20 and I stepped out of the station into a world of chaos.  I am originally from NY, growing up only a short train ride from NYC.  In fact, my father and sister still work in NYC. BUT, every time I am back in the city it doesn't cease to amaze me. It's overwhelming and exciting at the same time.  After a bit of Traffic and some rain (the one day I blow-dry my hair? more proof all natural is the way to go for this chick) I was safely seated next to some old friends from last year's Well Summit (Hey Salty Girls!).

Friday afternoon started with an introduction from Founder Gianne Doherty and Thoughtfully Magazine editor Brandie Gilliam to kick off an afternoon packed with information. The panels started off with Feed Your Mind: The New Science of Eating for Brain Health with Dr. Drew Ramsey. Let's just say I'm obsessed with this guy. (I might have mentioned this already.) He is a psychiatrist with a practice in NYC that not only helps his patients with traditional methods but with prescribing food.  He spoke about the link between what we can consumer and mental health. For me, this is something I have experienced first hand.  (Thanks to the Whole 30) Overall, he gave a relatable, realistic talk about for brain health. So of course I bought is book Eat Complete at the L.I.V.E. WELL Summit.


Next up was the Fair Trade/ Conscious Consumer Panel with Meika Hollender of Sustain nontoxic condoms and Margot Lyons from Coyuchi’s natural home goods followed closely by the Clean Beauty Panel with Brandie Gilliam of Thoughtfully Magazine, Tara Foley of Follain, Alba Ramos from SunKissAlba and Siobhan O’Connor co-author of No More Dirty Looks. Last but not least for the day was Keynote by Heather Thomson from The Real Housewives of NYC.

I dashed off for a quick dinner wither my little sister down the block before returning quickly before attending the L.I.V.E. WELL Party.  I got a sweet manicure from Tenoverten and bought some nail polish to take home with the intention of tossing all my old Crap (for lack of a better word). I drank some delicious Kombucha cocktails with some Health Ade kombucha and Kombrewcha. I found old friends from last years Well Summit and met some new ones.

Saturday was jam packed with information and sessions. I felt a little overwhelmed running from session to session but I was so happy it almost didn't matter. Below are a few of the sessions I attended:

Kristen Kellogg: Border Free Travels

I picked up some photography skills from Kristen Kellogg. Learned all about flay lay (I might be the last blogger to know what this is) and how to focus hold lock on an iPhone. She gave some great tips for apps such as Cortex Cam, Enlight, Cameraplus and Light room. I am still exploring these guys. She even recommended FaceTune but not for you face! for your food pictures. Game changer.

Where we participated in a Kundalini meditation and made our own Mala bracelets. (which I haven't taken off since the Well Summit)


Turn your Wellness Obsession Into a Career with Dr. Gabby

I had some groundbreaking revelations with her visualizations (more to come on this--worthy of a whole post) and I broke out of my comfort zone by speaking about what I want to do with my future career.  Thanks to that I connected with a like minded PT which gave me all the feels. the biggest takeaway from Dr. Gabby's session was 3 critical things you needed in business

  1. Clarity
  2. Confidence
  3. Consistency

I can definitely say I left with more of the first two and now it is on me for the consistency. I think I am up for the challenge.

Live Thoughtfully with Brandie Gilliam

Some many goodies from this session from areas to live more thoughtfully to specific brands to support a thoughtful life to being more thoughtful in regards to yourself.  MY biggest takeaway was when Brandie told us all

Nobody Can take what is for you. Live in a mindset of abundance, not scarcity.

This is just a small taste of some of the wonderful breakout sessions that I was able to participate in.  By far my favorite part of this years conference was the connection I made with others.  The emails I have received since the Well Summit is heart warming The information that I have learned from friends and colleagues is inspiring. I hope to stay in touch with everyone I connected with for a while to come.

For now, I'm off to continue to absorb the information and vibes from the past weekend and maybe enjoy some of the snacks (if there are any leftover) that I snagged in my swag bag.
